Rachel Gupta Exits Miss Grand International 2024 Amid Controversy

Rachel Gupta’s historic reign as Miss Grand International 2024 has come to a dramatic end, sparking a war of words between the beauty queen and the Miss Grand International (MGI) Organisation.

Gupta, 21, announced her resignation via Instagram on Wednesday, citing a “toxic environment,” mistreatment, and repeated unfulfilled promises by the organisers. “Being crowned was one of the most cherished dreams of my life,” Gupta wrote, “but the months following have been marked by broken promises I can no longer ignore.” She described the decision to step down as difficult, yet necessary, and promised to share her full side of the story soon, stating, “The truth will come out very soon.”

In contrast, the MGI Organisation released an official statement declaring Gupta had been terminated, not resigned. The statement cited breach of contract, failure to fulfill duties, participation in unauthorised external projects, and refusal to attend an official trip to Guatemala.

“The Miss Grand International Organisation hereby announces the termination of Miss Rachel Gupta’s title as Miss Grand International 2024, effective immediately,” the organisation stated, also demanding the return of her crown within 30 days.

Rachel Gupta made history on October 25, 2024, becoming the first Indian to win the Miss Grand International crown. Her triumph also earned her the Grand Pageants Choice Award, cementing her place in Indian pageant history.

The incident has sparked a wave of support and criticism online, with the global audience now awaiting Gupta’s promised video response.
