  • PublishedSeptember 10, 2025

Netflix India is set to reimagine one of the world’s greatest epics with its upcoming animated series, Kurukshetra. Inspired by the Mahabharata, the series will unfold in two parts, each comprising nine episodes, spotlighting the decisive 18-day war that forever changed the course of history.

Conceived and created by Anu Sikka and produced under the Tipping Point banner, Kurukshetra is backed by Anu Sikka, Alok Jain, and Ajit Andhare, with Ujaan Ganguly handling both writing and direction. The series promises a groundbreaking narrative that goes beyond the battlefield, exploring the moral conflicts, rivalries, and personal struggles of 18 pivotal warriors.

Unlike traditional retellings, Kurukshetra presents the epic through the perspectives of these warriors, offering audiences a closer look at the human emotions, dilemmas, and sacrifices that shaped the war. Each character’s journey underscores the timeless lessons of loyalty, honor, and destiny, making the series as emotionally compelling as it is visually grand.

With Kurukshetra, Netflix India marks its entry into the animated mythology genre, expanding its diverse content slate with a project that bridges the wisdom of the past with the storytelling sensibilities of the present. The series seeks to resonate with both younger audiences discovering the Mahabharata for the first time and seasoned viewers looking for a fresh interpretation of the timeless saga.

Kurukshetra promises to be an immersive experience that blends mythology, artistry, and emotional depth—bringing alive the eternal battle between brothers in a way never seen before.
