Maidaan has been helmed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, the director who had previously directed Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, Badhaai Ho.
Ajay Devgn, who will be seen playing a prominent role in the film shared a new poster of the film and captioned it as, “Badlav lane ke liye ek akela bhi kafi hota hai.”
In the poster, Ajay Devgn is seen kicking a football whilst also holding an umbrella and an office bag in his hand. His expressions seem childlike in the poster.
Previously, sharing the poster of the film he wrote, “Yeh kahaani hai Indian football ke golden phase ki aur uske sabse badey aur successful coach ki. #Maidaan (sic)”
In 'Maidaan', Ajay Devgn will essay the role of a former Indian football coach and manager, Syed Abdul Rahim. It was under the guidance of Rahim that the Indian football team won the Asian Games twice in 1951 and 1962. Syed is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football.
Other than Ajay Devgn, the film also stars Priyamani whose last onscreen appearance was in Manoj Bajpayee starrer web series, The Family Man. Keerthy Suresh was offered the role of the leading lady of the film, however things didn’t work out well.
Maidaan will now hit the screens on 11th December.
Talking about Ajay Devgn’s previous works, his last released film was Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
