AKSHAY KUMAR TO BE SEEN NEXT IN A WAR FLICK. WANTS TO AVOID TYPECASTING

For actors in the film industry, the issue of typecasting has been a challenge. When an actor is repeatedly assigned to portray the same type of role due to his success in a previous film, it can cause an actor to be stereotyped. Akshay Kumar who is well aware of the challenges that come with typecasting has taken a firm decision to break out of it. The issue of typecasting has got two sides of the coin. On one side the society tends to see an actor in a particular way due to his overly repeated roles in different movies. Filmmakers cast such an actor because they feel the actor does the role best. On the other side of the coin, the actor becomes boxed and unable to perform other roles. Not in all cases though, as the opportunities to explore other roles may be made available. Akshay Kumar who has been seen in films that are issue-based such as 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' and 'Padman', said he deliberately wants to shift between genres to avoid getting stereotyped as reported by Times of India. In a media interaction, he was quoted by the leading daily saying, "I need to keep on changing. I don't want anyone to put an image on me. I have gone through that in early days of my career when only action image was associated with me. I wanted to do other things, but I couldn't do it. So I always try to do different things (now)." Akshay Kumar further stated his excitement on his next which will be a war flick. "It is not that I will do only this kind of film. I am doing a war film called 'Kesari', it is for the first time that I am doing a war film, it is new for me. So I am very excited about it," he said
