Today we celebrated 69th Republic Day of India. While according to a survey conducted by an online portal, one out of three of today's youth did not know the first time Republic Day was celebrated in India (in 1950), thousands of young and old gathered at Rajpath to witness the breathtaking celebrations despite a cold and foggy day. The 8 km stretch was filled with tricolors held in hands and patriotism in hearts. From WhatsApp to Twitter, Facebook to Instagram, social media was flooded with wishes being sent to and fro. How could our favorite movie stars stay behind? They took to their social media accounts to wish their fans and followers. From Amitabh Bachchan to Ranveer Singh, several Bollywood celebs wished Indians and shared their thoughts through their online posts. BigB, who was present in New Delhi, watched the Republic Day parade live. This year, amongst the tableaux and flags of all the ASEAN nations, the strength show with fighter jets and missiles, there was a contingent of Women daredevils that grabbed the eyeballs of all. Aged between 25-30 years, lady jawans of BSF piled down the Rajpath in various formations on the bikes. From Saptarishi formation to peacock, fish riding to faulaad, this specially selected and trained contingent, performed stunts on the bikes while the crowd roared with applause. When the world around them is busy fighting and throwing heavy words like 'Feminism', 'womanhood' etc. these 'Seema Bhawanis' on bikes contoured in various shapes define a woman's actual and innate strength to the T. GABRUU.COM'S SALUTE TO THESE VEER BHAWANIS!
