Two accused who were out on bail set the survivor ablaze in the wee hours of Thursday in Unnao, UP. This is the second instance of such brutality within a week.
A rape survivor was allegedly set on fire after being doused in kerosene at a village under Bihar police station. Police said, "She has told investigators that she was set on fire by the two accused who had raped her a year ago and were presently out on bail. They were accompanied by three of their two associates."
As per the doctors, the victim has sustained 90 per cent burns. According to reports, she was going to Raebareli with her parents when she was attacked. It was around 4 in the morning and she was going to pursue the case only. The victim is in a government hospital in Lucknow and her condition is critical.
NCP MP Majeed Memon said that the rape survivor sustained 80-90 per cent burns and was struggling for life. "She had made two complaints against the threat of rape earlier yet we could not protect her. Pathetic," the NCP leader tweeted.
