ANUSHKA SHARMA AND KARTIK AARYAN BAGGED THE HOTTEST VEGETARIAN TITLE FOR 2018

In a poll conducted by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the two hottest names in the industry who are vegetarians and who won India's Hottest Vegetarian title for 2018 are Anushka Sharma and Kartik Aaryan. The two Bollywood celebrities won after a poll was conducted on the PETA website as Anushka and Kartik had the most number of votes in their bank.

While this is the first time for Kartik to win the title, for Anushka it was the second win after topping the title back in the year 2016. In 2017, however, she was named PETA's Person Of The Year. Anushka who has been a self-proclaimed vegetarian for a long time openly said in an ad campaign for PETA,

"I'm Anushka Sharma and I'm a vegetarian."

In one of her interviews, Anushka shared about the health benefits of being a vegetarian. She said,

"I have more energy, I feel healthier, and I'm so happy that no animals had to suffer for my meals."

On the other hand, Kartik who earlier revealed that he was moved by a video which showed the cruelty meted out towards animals for their meat, motivated him to make a lifestyle change. Talking about being a vegetarian, Kartik told,

"The kindest thing anybody can do for cows, pigs, chickens, and all animals is to stop eating them".

In an official statement, Sachin Bangera, PETA's Associate Director of celebrity and public relations, said

"Anushka Sharma and Kartik Aaryan are saving animals by keeping them off their plates, and by sharing their commitment to being meat-free with the world. Their compassion makes them as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, and that makes them winners in our book."

This is not the first time when a celebrity has turned vegetarian. Many big names such as Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Jacquline Fernandez, John Abraham and Alia Bhatt gave up non-veg dishes after they knew about the cruelty done with the animals.
