Actor and film-maker Arbaaz Khan confessed that he was involved in betting of IPL matches. Arbaaz confirmed with the police of Maharashtra that he has been involved in betting business for the last six years. Arbaaz told the police in a statement that he was not paying the amount due to which the bookie was intimidating him. While questioning with the police, Arbaaz was brought face to face with the bookie, Sonu Jalan. The Thane police issued orders to Arbaaz Khan for recording his statement in respect with the betting uproar. Sonu Jalan was involved in placing various bets during the recently finished IPL season. The betting racket was busted on 15th May when the Anti-Extortion Cell of Thane Police had arrested four people in Mumbai, which also included Sonu Jalan. The police officials assume that Sonu Jalan is one of the top bookies in the nation. Senior Inspector and the head of Anti Extortion, Pradeep Sharma, said “a ‘connection’ between Jalan and Arbaaz Khan was established”. Sonu Jalan had maintained a diary with the name and full details of the clients and the bookies. The police who have arrested him claim that Sonu has worked with the Kingpin who is known by the name of “Junior Kolkata.” Sonu Jalan was first arrested in 2008 for betting in the IPL matches. Speculations are being made that Sonu has links with, Dawood Ibrahim, who is a Karachi based terrorist.
