Just when we thought the Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' may take a long time to get certified, reports have it that, the film will probably get its clearance from the Central Board of Film Certificate (CBFC) today, the 18th of December 2017. The film 'Padmavati' starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh as the lead actors was set to release on the 1st of December this year. But, due to lots of controversies, the release date has been postponed. From its inception, 'Padmavati' has suffered a great deal of turmoil. Apparently, the people of Rajput believe that the film has not portrayed the Queen, her honor and the people of Rajput in good light. This was due to the dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and the Alauddin Khalji. After vandalizing sets of the film in the initial stage of production, the life of the female lead Deepika Padukone was threatened and a bounty of Rs. 5 Crore was placed on the head of the filmmaker. In the heat of all the protests and hate speeches against the film, CBFC failed to clear the film last month due to incomplete documents. Thankfully, the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has got Bhansali's back. He made it clear in a statement that he would not stop the screening of the controversial film 'Padmavati' in the state.
as far as Punjab was concerned, there would be no bar on the release of 'Padmavati' as anything can be shown here as long as it does not hurt religious sentiments.'Padmavati' is a historical epic drama based on a 13th – 14th century Indian Queen called ‘Padmini’ who was well known for her beauty. According to history, she defended her honor against a Muslim Invador Alauddin Khalji. As we await the clearance certificate from the Central Board of Film Certificate (CBFC), our ears are on the ground for the new release date of the film.
