Whenever we think about the master of Punjabi Sufi music then the first name which comes to our minds is of Satinder Sartaaj. The list of his songs is too long to be defined in few words but his music is truly heart soothing which could heal any pain. Today, as the singer celebrates his birthday, we have listed down some lesser-known facts about him. Check them out here;

In entertainment sector, we have seen many artists changing their names. This trend is being followed all across the globe but did you know even Satinder Sartaaj have made a few changes to his name?

v The singer’s original name is SatinderPal Singh Saini and he was born in Bajrawar village of Hoshiarpur District.

v He is the first turbaned Punjabi artist to walk the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival in the French city.

v Another achievement to his credits is that he became the first Indian artist to perform at the marvelous Sydney Opera House.

v If we talk about his film journey, then he is the only actor of Punjabi origin to bag a role in a Hollywood Film. He was seen in the 2017 film ‘The Black Prince’ which was written and directed by Kavi Raz.

v While most of the artists are criticized for a low qualification, Sartaaj did his Honors Degree in Music from Govt. college Hoshiarpur. Later, he completed his M.Phil and Ph.D. In Sufi music from Punjab University, Chandigarh.

v He is also honoured by the New Zealand Government and Victorian Government, Australia for his immense contribution to the Sufi music.

On the work front, the singer today announced a new song ‘Hamayat’. The upcoming song is dedicated to the victims of Punjab Floods which washed off hundreds of villages across the state.

The release date of this song is still kept under the wraps but we hope that he will be dropping it really soon.
