Sad news for people in Haryana, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmaavat" has been banned by the ruling government in the state. The breaking news broke out today and since has been taking the internet by storm. The decision came after a meeting between Haryana cabinet ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Where Haryana's health minister won with a veto, in order to ban the movie in the home state. Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij tweeted about the ban being imposed on the movie. Vij wrote on Twitter.
"Film Padmavati/Padmavat banned in Haryana."https://twitter.com/anilvijminister/status/953188898846339078 Vij took up the issue regarding the impending release of the film and said that the Rajput community in the state was against the film. He has also stated that entire cabinet supported him on the move to impose a ban on screening of the film in Haryana. The state is run by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government since October 2014. Though people on the border areas can travel to nearby states to watch the film, no easy option appears for those living in central Haryana. It is not just Haryana which has imposed a ban on 'Padmaavat'. Other states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madya Pradesh had already banned the film from showing in cinemas. After six states put a ban on the film, it will also be competing with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’ on the box office which is set to release on the Republic day of India, January 26, 2018. On the flip side, Padmaavat is slated for a release on January 25.
