Arjun Awardee and the star player of T-20 Women's World Cup 2017 team, Harmanpreet Kaur is again in headlines but this time due to all the wrong reasons. Due to her amazing achievements in Cricket she was appointed as D.S.P. (Deputy Superintendent of Police) in Punjab. However she may now lose her job because of her fake graduation degree. Recently, when Police department sent her documents for verification, they were found to be fake. Prior to this, the present CM of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh had personally offered her a job in Police, under Sports Quota, when she was already working as Office Superintendent with Western Railways. But at that time she was not able to join Punjab Police for over six months as Railways had refused to relieve her from services. As she had signed five-year contract with the Railways and had not completed her term then. It was the Chief Minister who took up the matter with the Railways and got her relieved. She was finally appointed in February this year. Harmanpreet’s father Harminder Singh had told,
“She did her schooling from Moga and was then selected in the Indian cricket team. She completed her remaining studies from Delhi and Meerut. She was provided a job by the Indian Railways on the basis of the same documents,”However, sources said,
"Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has taken a “lenient view” of the fact that her degree turned out to be fake as she has told the government that she, too, was unaware that the degree, from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, held by her was fake. “She told us that her coach got her admission in the university, saying it was flexible about exams. She has told us she was given the degree but had no inkling that it was fake.Senior functionary of the Punjab government said,
"The CM has almost decided that we appoint her as constable, a post matching with her educational qualification of senior secondary and elevate her as DSP as and when she fulfills her educational requirement,”.Till now Harmanpreet didn't said anything on th0Now this will be interesting to see what will happen next in this matter.
