While you celebrate Holi, the beautiful festival of colours, don't forget that Women's Day is just a week away. There have been several government schemes and NGOs in place for helping the women and girls. But, it is the efforts of singers and actors that help communicate the messages. One such singer ready to send out a message to 'save the girl child' is Daler Mehndi. The Punjabi singer and the King of Pop music in India is set to release a song titled 'Gudiya Rani' under his home label. DRecords label, helmed by Daler Mehndi and his wife Taran Kaur Mehndi, is supporting an up and coming singer Udit Shandilya. Gudiya Rani is written, composed and sung by Shandilya himself. It will release this Women's Day on March 8. 'Gudiya rani' is a melodious song. It has been performed very well by this young rising star (Udit). Support him with your love. I request music directors in Bollywood to take note of this rising star.''Gudiya Rani' features six girls in the video, who were selected from Facebook contests. The official website of DRecords states that the label's objective is 'to secure and preserve our literary heritage, language and music through projects that entice the youth...' A trained classical singer, Udit Shandilya may be a newbie in mainstream singing, but has covered many popular Hindi songs. His 'Gudiya Rani' resonates with DRecords vision to 'leave a learning trail...' Daler Mehndi, who has been a 90s sensation with songs like Tunak Tunak Tun, Ho Jayegi Balle Balle, et al is a popular name in B-Town. He is collaborating with Anu Malik for YRF's Sui Dhaaga.
