DALER MEHNDI GETS BAIL ON THE SAME DAY AFTER RECEIVING A 2 YEAR JAIL TERM

Applauded for making Banghra popular worldwide is Daler Mehndi. Known for his energetic songs, unique voice and fashion, Daler Mehndi has achieved greatness in his career as a musician. However, the 50-year-old singer together with his brother Shamsher Singh have made the headlines for illegally sending people abroad by disguising them as members of their troupe after collecting a huge amount of money. Daler Mehndi on the 16th of March, 2018 was found guilty and sentenced to 2 years imprisonment for human trafficking case in 2003 as convicted by Patiala court. He was however granted bail on the same day after his sentence for a fine of Rs 10,000 is now in the custody of the Punjab Police. The singer hopes to appeal to the higher court. Three girls were dropped illegally in San Francisco and three boys in New Jersey respectively. After the Patiala Police had registered a case against Daler Mehndi and Shamsher Singh, an alarming number of 35 more complaints came up leveling charges of fraud against the two brothers. Some of which were the acceptance of money without fulfilling their end of the bargain by sending people abroad. As reported by a leading daily, the Patiala Police had organized a search at the offices of Daler Mehndi at Connaught Place in New Delhi and seized documents. The documents retrieved includes the case file of those who had paid the alleged "passage money" to Mehndi brothers. As per the reports, the Mehndi brothers in 1998 and 1999, had allegedly taken two troupes abroad. Three girls were dropped illegally in San Francisco and three boys in New Jersey respectively. However, even after the Patiala Police in 2006 filed two discharge petitions stating the innocence of Daler Mehndi, the court had upheld that the singer will be prosecuted as there was "sufficient evidence against him on the judicial file and scope for further investigation".
