It is the beginning of 2020 and another feather has been added to Deepika Padukone’s cap. The actor-producer has been honored with the Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum 2020 for spreading awareness on Mental Health. The W.E.F. 2020, was organized at Davos, Switzerland.
Deepika Padukone received the award from Hilde Schwab, Chairwoman and Co-Founder of the World Economic Forum's World Arts Forum.
Deepika Padukone gave a very powerful and hard-hitting speech at the event and opened-up about her own battle with anxiety and depression. Deepika Padukone shared how her own struggle encouraged her to spread awareness and knowledge of Mental Health. During the event, Deepika Padukone shared, "In the time it has taken me to acknowledge this honor, the world has lost one more individual to suicide. One trillion dollars is the assessed effect of depression and mental illness on the world economy."
For raising awareness, Deepika Padukone also founded The Live Love Laugh Foundation, that helps people cope with the issues of Mental Health. This Foundation provides awareness programs in the schools in India, funds free psychiatric treatments, provides public awareness campaigns and many more.On big screen, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Chhapaak. The movie was inspired by the real-life story of acid-attack survivor, Lakshmi Agarwal and gained high critical acclaim. The film performed decently at the Indian Box Office.
