The capital of India again woke up to a chilly morning as the minimum temperature of the state came down to 2.4 degree Celsius. This is the lowest temperature recorded of the season.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature in Delhi reduced to 2.4 degree Celsius at 6:10 AM on Saturday. The visibility got very low because of fog which engulfed the entire city in its blanket. Four flights have been diverted from Delhi airport because of poor visibility.
A fall in the temperature also impacts the air quality and at present the overall quality index of Delhi air is 351 according to SAFAR making it fall under the category of “very poor”.
The temperature on Friday too reduced to4.2 degrees Celsius making it the coldest day of the season. Delhi is witnessing the coldest spell in December since 1997.
The IMD has also forecast that along with Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, North Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are likely to suffer severe cold and fog today.
