Last two days has been like a trouble causing for the Tricity residents. Dust particles are hovered over the region. A lot of flights from Chandigarh International airport have been diverted or canceled due to low visibility. Weather department said; because of ground level sand storms in Rajasthan with wind speed upto 40 kms per hour has spiked dust particles in the air which has led to low visibility in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh Capital Region. As per Meterologigal department's information, the situation would improve only by Friday afternoon. Chandigarh International Airport official said ; “No flight landed or took off from Chandigarh (airport) until today afternoon due to bad weather,”. Bad weather conditions prevailed in the morning which led to the very poor visibility at the airport and because of this most of the flight operators have cancelled their flights. However, Air India said that they have managed to transport the desired passengers from Chandigarh to Delhi through luxury buses so that they may get connecting flights to Sharjah, Dubai and Bangkok whereas the other flight operators have refunded the tickets to around 4,000 passengers heading for different destinations like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Leh, Srinagar and other connecting areas. A weather expert from Chandigarh Meteorological department said; “A western disturbance is approaching the region and the dusty weather should dissipate by tomorrow afternoon,”. The region is facing severe heat wave from last couple of days and dust particles in the air have dropped the temperature with few notches. A down pour in the region will come out with some relief for the people suffering from severe heat.
