Envoys from 15 different countries have landed in Jammu for a two-day visit to Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) to access the conditions on ground post the abrogation of Article 370 in J&K. Delegates from the European Union (E.U.) gave the "guided tour" a miss stating that it was "too short a notice to seek instructions from the headquarters".
According to government sources, the EU officials wanted to visit in a group which they said was "not possible" given the restrictions of the numbers. “We wanted to take a global group of envoys to J&K with only some EU ambassadors; not all EU envoys were asked to join,” said a government source.
US Ambassador to India Kenneth I Juster along with envoys from 15 other countries arrived by a special chartered flight at Srinagar’s technical airport, where they were received by top officials, PTI reported.
The delegation, apart from the US, includes diplomats from Bangladesh, Vietnam, Norway, Maldives, South Korea, Morocco, and Nigeria, among others.
