Men always prefer to look smart and handsome by shaving almost regularly or not growing a mustache. But there is one month in the entire year when if men do not shave, it is considered a good thing.
November marks the ‘Movember’ (Mo + November) and No Shave November which is a yearly event. Whilst this event, men decide to grow a mustache to raise awareness about health issues like prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and even suicide. And the interesting thing is that in this event even women can participate alongside men. During this month, women can always prefer not to get their hair waxed during this month.
Here are 5 things which everyone should know about this event.
Initiation of the movement
‘Movember’ began in Australia in 2003 when a group of men decided to get together to raise awareness among men’s health and growing a mustache.
Health benefits to Movember
Growing a beard helps in keeping the pollen and dust away from your lungs because it acts as an effective barrier. Shaving the bead also carries the risk of bacteria entering through the skin. Beard also provides protection against the UV ray exposure.
You can’t start off with a beard
Even if a person dons a well-groomed beard, still the person has to start from scratch. But always remember that it is not necessary to show support through keeping the beard. One can always give some charity to the organizations and also spread the word and the cause too.
What you can do
Over a period of the month, you should grow the mustache. Have a dialogue with someone regarding raising the funds and creating awareness about men’s health in areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health.
What the main purpose
The main aim of Movember is to raise awareness about the timely checkups for early cancer detection, its proper diagnosis, and treatment. It is also an exciting way for the people to experiment with their looks.
