First Made-in-India COVID-19 test kit by Mylab gets commercial approval

Mylab, a Pune company, has succeeded in making a coronavirus test kit. It has been approved by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), the first test kit made in India for the coronavirus test. The company has said that it will produce 1 lakh kits in a week. In addition, the company has claimed that 100 patients can be tested with one kit.

Mylab Pathodect Covid-19 Qualitative PCR Kit has been commercially approved. This kit has been approved by the Indian FDA / Central Drug Standards Control Organization (CDSCO).

Record time

MyLab is the only Indian company to achieve 100 percent sensitivity and specificity in ICMR evaluation. The company developed the indigenous kit in a record 6 weeks.

MyLab currently manufactures ID-NAT screening kits for blood banks, HIV, HBV and HCV kits. Mylab has also received approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to manufacture the COVID-19 kit at the same facility.

Ranjit Desai, the scientist of the kit making team at MyLab, said,“We can produce 1 to 1.5 lakh test kits every week. We are trying to increase our production capacity. They will be available at one-fourth the cost of test kits being shipped from abroad. ”

But after the approval of the Indian kit, the picture of the infected patients can now be changed.
