Actors have a really undetermined career. Their future and survival in the industry depends upon fate and box office success. Here is a list of five actors who were forgotten by the mainstream Indian cinema but their careers revived and they shined in their second innings. As the newborn child OTT protected them
1. Bobby Deol
Bobby Deol made his debut in Raj Kumar Santoshi's hit Barsaat in 1995 and went on to appear in many hits from the 90s, like Gupt, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, and Solider. But at the turn of the century, Bollywood changed.
He told Bollywood Hungama, “When you pity yourself, you will start cursing the world around you. That is what happened with me for two-three years. I started pitying myself and thought that no one wants to work with me so I relied on alcohol. I started numbing myself and then one day I realised where I was wrong when I saw it in my kids’ eyes that our father stays home all day long.” He added, “I saw the same emotion in my mother and wife’s eyes too, so something in me changed and I realized that if I want to move forward, I cannot wait for someone else to do it, I will have to walk myself. That is when I started working on myself and I have been so busy in the last two-three years.”
But 2020 turned out to be the year for him as he gave two successful projects a film called Class of 83 and superhit Aashram. These two projects revived his career and gave him back the bread , butter and respect as an actor. He will soon be seen in second season of Aashram
This man has proved his acting might time and again, only to fall again into the pit of the infamous burden of being the son of India’s greatest superstar Amitabh Bachchan. The truth is, that people have unrealistic expectations from their so called junior Bachchan. He is a good actor. In fact, he has given few mind blowing performances. It’s high time we start seeing him as an individual. As a talented and capable individual. As an individual who has delivered crazy performances in movies like Guru, Manmarziyan, Yuva, Paa.
He is a soft target for trollers and Abhishek is often bullied and miserably bashed for being a bad actor. Off lately this actor appeared in several ensemble films limiting his potential as the solo lead.
But all eyeballs turned when he made his digital debut with Breathe into the shadows which dropped on Amazon PRIME. He was widely appreciated for his stunning performance. The actor has a huge line up films . The actor will soon be seen in Ludo, The Big Bull, Jhund .
3. Sushmita sen
A completely transformed woman who always kept her spine strong. This lady has seen it all from illness, to people not working with her, highs and lows in career but she stood strong. When Sushmita recovered from Addison's disease she made sure that she will work .
She decided to comeback . She asked for work and made an amazing comeback with Ram Madhvani's Disney + hotstar special Aarya. She soared as an actor and with what flying colors she brought back the same magic on screen. We are highly expecting to see her in the second season of Aarya.
4. Sobhita dhulipala
Making her acting debut with Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0, she quickly made her name in the acting world with her acclaimed performance in Amazon Prime Video’s hit Made In Heaven. She excelled in every frame and turned into an overnight star In the series, she played the role of Tara Khanna, a wedding planner running an agency based in Delhi. She also appeared in a pivotal role in Bard of Blood and Ghost Stories for Netflix.
5. Saif Ali Khan
Already a top name in the industry, Saif Ali Khan also made it big on the digital platform with the success of his web series ‘Sacred Games’. He is also one of the first actors of his league to set foot into an OTT platform. He will also be seen in Amazon Prime Video’s show Dilli which is set for its global premiere in October.
The actor made his OTT debut with Sacred Games. He was one of the first actors in his league to portray a mainstream character. The show got tremendous recognition globally and was even nominated for the International Emmys last year
Saif Ali Khan started the year on a high note with films like Tanhaji and Jawaani Jaaneman that received immense appreciation. Tanhaji was a period drama for which the actor was touted as one of the best negative characters in the industry. Jawaani Jaaneman on the other hand was a one of kind quirky family entertainer that saw the Nawaab of Bollywood in his patent rom-com avatar.
Surely OTT has been a blessing for all the actors who were facing a tough time in films.
