The very ‘Sanskari’ Pahlaj Nihalani is all set with his upcoming presentation ‘Julie 2’ which is the sequel to Neha Dhupia starrer 2004 hit ‘Julie’. Though the media had been accusing the former Central Board Of Film Certification chief of presenting soft porn in name of erotic thriller after Nihalani getting sacked as the President of CBFC. But seems as if the time has given a back hit to the media itself since the movie has been cleared with no cuts. You read it right ‘Adult’ certificate and no cuts is the latest update from the CBFC world in the new regime of current CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi.
As per a media report from the Quint the former chief has quoted it as;
This is just what I had hoped for. If I was still the CBFC chairperson, I’d have given Julie 2 an ‘Adults’ certificate with no cuts. It is a clean Adults film for adult members of a family. Though it’s a film on an adult subject – the exploitation of strugglers and newcomers in Bollywood – the film has no nudity , no skin show , no double-meaning dialogues. Like I said it is a family film for adults and the CBFC has done the right thing.
Indeed this was the same talk that Nihalani had told a few days back at a press conference. It was obvious that a person who had ordered to make useless amendments even as simple as for a cuss word was expecting the rage of media since ‘Julie 2’ was his presentation. Therefore before anyone could have questioned him the most hated ‘sanskari’ beta of film word started to defend himself saying;
People might think how I can be back with such a film even after being a sanskari. You all are looking at the film from the point of view of an erotic film. But every film has its own framework and its own ideas. When I listened to the story of Julie 2 in its initial stages, I found it to be very interesting as it is an inside-the-industry story.
Questioned about peddling a soft porn to the audiences, Nihlani retaliated;
Soft porn or soft corn, or harsh reality. Let the film release. The world will know.
Nihalani had refused to let the word ‘intercourse’ pass in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal. And now his erotic thriller has been passed with no cuts, as it contains no cuss word but only highly sexual content. The film is slated for an October 6 release.
