Directed by Reema Kagti, the film is second Indian film after Rajnikant starrer Kaala to be released in the nation. Basically it is the first Bollywood movie ever to hit the theatres in Saudi Arabia. Before Gold, Akshay had given superhit movies like Padman, Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Jolly LLB 2, Rustom, Housefull 3, Airlift and Singh Is Bliing. All these movies had surpassed the boxoffice collections. Gold was Mouni Roy's debut film. Other than Mouni and Akshay the film also starred Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor and Vineet Kumar Singh. The film hit the theatres on Independence Day, 15th August. Saudi Arabia had a private screening of the international cultural phenomenon, Black Panther was the first film which the common man in the nation could see. After this, the theatres were made open to the public, in the nation. Talking about the work front, Mouni Roy will be next seen in Ranbir-Alia starrer Brahmastra, which will mark her second film in the industry. Brahmastra is being directed by Ayaan Mukherji which is slated to release on 15th August 2019.
