The trailer of Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is out.
The trailer introduces a young girl who dreamt of becoming pilot, but was always told it was not meant for women. But, she ended up flying rescue missions for the Indian Air Force during the Kargil war.
Based on the life of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena, who made history when she became the first Indian woman in combat during the Kargil War, The Kargil Girl will premiere on August 12 on Netflix.
The trailer shows glimpses of the gender discrimination Gunjan faced at her job, often being told that it was not the place for ‘weak women’ like her. The trailer gives us glimpses into her dreams and aspirations as a girl aspiring to become a pilot in the Air Force.
Pankaj Tripathi plays Janhvi’s father who is the wind beneath her wings, and pushes her to stick to her dreams. “Whether a woman or a man fly the plane, they are called pilots,” he says to his daughter.
Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film also stars Angad Bedi, Viineet Kumar, Manav Vij and Ayesha Raza in pivotal roles.
