Gunman fires at students protesting in Jamia; says

An unidentified man shot at the students of Jamia Milia Islamia conducting an anti CAA protest in Delhi on Thursday. The man shouted ‘who wants Azadi’ prior to open shooting. He shouted, “Kisko chahiye azadiMain dunga azadi [Who wants freedom? I will give freedom].” He has now been taken into police custody.

The incident happened when the protestors were marching towards Rajghat to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens.

A video is doing rounds on the internet of the man dressed in a black jacket and waving a single barrel weapon. See the video below.

The man was just a few meters away from the police who were giving duty outside the university where the protest was being carried out.

 The accused has been identified as Gopal and the police still have to confirm his claim. During all this while, one of the shots from his pistol also injured a student identified as Shadab Najar, a student of Mass Communication and Research Centre at Jamia Milia University. He was immediately rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Jamia.
