HERE'S A SNEAK PEEK INTO WHO WON WHAT AT IIFA 2018

Yesternight International Indian Film Academy awards, commonly known as IIFA took place in the Thai capital, Bangkok. This is the first time when IIFA is celebrated in Thailand. The awards night took place in Bangkok's Siam Niramit theatre and it was hosted by Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh. This star-studded night witnessed some of the never seen before moments. Veteran actress Rekha was seen grooving to her popular number 'Salaam-e-Ishq Meri Jaan'  on the IIFA stage. Irrfan Khan who is currently in London for his  NeuroEndocrine Tumour treatment received best actor award for 'Hindi Medium'. He was nominated alongside Rajkumar Rao for 'Newton' and Akshay Kumar for 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha'. The movie showed the struggles of Indian parents which are out to get their child admitted to best schools. The award was received by his 'Haider' co-star Shraddha Kapoor. In the best film category, Vidya Balan starrer 'Tumhari Sulu' bagged the IIFA trophy. The film showed an ordinary housewife who turns out to be a Radio Jockey. The movie had a tough competition with movies such as 'Newton' and 'Hindi Medium'. Late Sridevi was awarded Best actor female award for her role in 'MOM' which was received by Boney Kapoor. Nawazuddin Siddiqui was awarded by best actor in a supporting role for this movie. While receiving this he got emotional and dedicated his award to the late actor Sridevi. Arijit Singh was announced as the Best Playback Singer (Male) for his song 'Hawayein' from 'Jab Harry Met Sejal', while Meghna Mishra won the Best Playback Singer (Female) Award for the track “Main Kaun Hoon” from “Secret Superstar” and best lyrics award went to 'Mere Rashke Qamar' from the movie 'Baadshaho'.  For more freshly brewed content keep scrolling gabruu.com
