It has been 20 years since the Korean carmaker Hyundai marked its debut in the Indian auto markets. The company's first and best selling model in India was Santro which became the best-seller by Hyundai in the country.
As India is known as the country of small cars, many carmakers are working on specially designed models for their Indian customers. Santro is one of the oldest models from the company. After many facelifted variants, the car was replaced by Hyundai Eon in the year 2014.
Since the company is celebrating a successful run in the Indian market, the Korean carmaker has unveiled their latest offering. A couple of months back Hyundai also ran a contest where company asked the people to send in their suggested names for company's next offering. Now, the wait is over as the next-gen Santro is here.
The company has brought in modern styling to the Santro and we can see the cascading grille on the car while the swept back headlamps are nice and sleek. The Hyundai Santro is 3610 mm long and comes with improved wheelbase. The length of the car is 45 mm longer than old Santro. The company also announced that bookings for the car will start online from tomorrow for a token amount of ₹ 11,100 for the first 50,000 customers.
In the Indian market, the Santro will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki's Celerio and WagonR, Tata Tiago and the Renault Kwid 1.0.
