South Afric's Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters beat everyone to end a four-decade-long jinx for her home country bringing one of the world's biggest pageant, Miss Universe crown, to her nation. India's Shraddha Shashidhar lost out on the 2017 pageant title, failing to make it even to the top 16. The Miss Universe pageant crown last was brought back to India by Lara Dutta that too in the year 2000. A 16-year drought still continues to get back the crown, India had high hopes from Shraddha, 21, a media graduate also when Manushi Chhillar had won at the Miss World 2017.
