India remembers the 2001 Parliament attack martyrs on its 18th anniversary


Around 18 years ago in 2001, the Indian Parliament was attacked by a group of terrorist organizations from Pakistan namely LeT and JeM who killed 9 people as they opened fire.



December 13, 2019: On this day, the Nation remembers the horrifying Parliament attack of 2001 and Indian President, Ram Nath Koving along with other Ministers honored the martyrs who lost their lives in the attack.

A total of 9 people were killed in the attack which included six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament security service agents and a gardener. Later all the five terrorists were also shot dead.

Based on the investigation it was revealed that the terrorists breached the security using a fake home ministry sticker on the car which they drove near the building. There they started firing at the security personnel and other officers and were finally gunned down by the Indian security forces.



A few days later, the convicted Afzal Guru was arrested from Jammu and Kashmir and in September 2006 the Delhi court order him a death sentence. As on February 9, 2013, Afzal Guru was hanged in Tihar Jail.
