A few days back, lyricist and a poet Javed Akhtar showed immense displeasure over mentioning his name in the credits of Narendra Modi biopic. He even shared a screenshot on his Twitter to express his feelings about the same.
Javed Akhtar and lyricist Sameer recently called out the makers of the PM Narendra Modi biopic over being given credit on the poster of the film when they haven’t even worked on the film. The producer of the film, Sandip Singh, said in a statement,
“T-series being the official music partner of our film, we have taken the songs Ishwar Allah from the film 1947: Earth and the song Suno Gaur Se Duniya Walon from the film Dus, thus we have given the due credits to respective lyricists Javed Sahab and Sameer Ji.”
He also added that the celebs could have picked up the phone and called him to clarify instead of making matters worse on social media.
Javed Akhtar has now gone on a Twitter rant against the producer’s statement and wrote,
“I don’t know the people who have made this film . In any case it not industry practice to give composer or lyricist name on the poster if the song that is used is from some other film .only in the credit title you give credit to them along with title of the original film .”
He also added,
“Now since the film PMNM is proved to be a still born baby there is no point in streching any debate about it .nevertheless I would like to put it on record that what the producers did was morally , traditionally and most probably even legally wrong”.
Though he has deleted his other tweet now, his older Tweet is still visible on his profile.
Sameer Anjaan had also Tweeted,
“Mujhe hairat hai apana naam pm narendra Modi film me dekh karr , Maine aisi kisi film me koi gaana nahi likha hai ..”
Actress and social activist Shabana Azmi also reacted on the same, her Tweet read;
"It is quite clear this was done with deliberate intentions to mislead public into believing that @Javedakhtarjadu has written the songs for Mr PM Narendra Modi when the song 'Ishwar Allah tere jahan mein' is from @IamDeepaMehta film '1947:Earth',".
The film was announced in December last year and it will be hitting the screens this April. The film is further preponed by a week and there’s no doubt in saying that it’s an election year and this film is no less than an election campaign. The film stars Vivek Oberoi in a titular role.
