Karan Johar's two domestic helps test positive for COVID-19


Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has confirmed that two members of his household staff have tested positive for coronavirus.


Filmmaker Karan Johar who  celebrated his birthday yesterday went on to confirm on social media recently that two members from his household staff have tested positive for COVID-19. Karan in an official statement said that they all have taken the swab test and have tested negative for the same. He even said that the whole family will stay in quarantine for 14 days as a precautionary measure. Karan also stated that the BMC was informed immediately and the building has been fumigated and sterilised by them as per the norms.


The 48-year-old director added that he and other members of his family have tested negative for COVID-19.


He, however, revealed that they will remain in self-isolation for the next two weeks.


Karan lives in Mumbai with his mother Hiroo Johar, and two children, Yash and Roohi.


In a social media post, uploaded on Monday evening, Karan said that as soon as his staff members displayed symptoms, they were quarantined.


They then informed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), who fumigated and sterilized the building.


Karan added that all other members of his family are safe and do not display any symptoms of the deadly virus.

Recently, three people who worked at the house of producer Boney Kapoor tested positive for coronavirus.


The producer had said he and his daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, were fine and asymptomatic.


"We are thankful to the government of Maharashtra and BMC for their swift response. We shall be diligently following the instructions," the producer said in a statement.


In the film industry, celebrities such as singer Kanika Kapoor, producer Karim Morani and his daughters, Zoa and Shaza, had been diagnosed with the coronavirus. They have all recovered now.


The number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed 1.45 lakh, and the death toll has climbed to 4,172.


Globally, the disease has killed 347,907 and sickened over 55 lakh.


Karan recently celebrated his 48th birthday.
