As once said by PM Modi, Arun Jaitley was a political giant with towering intellect and legal influencer who made a lasting contribution to India.
December 28, 2019: Today is Arun Jaitley's 67th birth anniversary and he will be always remembered as a unique political leader who has the power of being an able strategist.
He was a lawyer by profession and also had been a key member of PM Modi's cabinet in the first term of BJP government being the Union Finance Minister (From 26 May 2014 – 30 May 2019). Previously he also held other positions like Defence Minister, Corporate Affairs, Commerce and Industry, Law and Justice and several other cabinet portfolios.
During his term as a Finance Minister, PM Narendra Modi along with his government was able to take different economic initiatives like Demonetisation and implementation of Goods and Service Tax (GST). However, he decided not to join the second term of Modi's led government due to health issues.

Talking about his early life, he completed his B.Com degree in 1973 and passed L.L.B from Delhi University (DU) in 1977. He got married to Sangeeta who is the daughter of former J&K finance minister Girdhari Lal Dogra in 1982 and has two children, Rohan and Sonali. Both the children are lawyers being the third generation in the family practicing law.
His daughter married to a businessman, Jaish Bakshi in 2015 and grabbed the headlines as many Bollywood celebrities including Shahrukh Khan attended her wedding.
Coming to his death, Arun Jaitley's health started deteriorating in 2019 as he underwent multiple surgeries and on August 9, 2019, he was admitted to the AIIMS hospital in Delhi. On August 24, 2019, Jaitley died at the age of 66.
