Known as one of the most popular Sufi singers are the legendary Wadali Brothers - Puran Chand and Pyare Lal. While many sing their praises, today happens to be a sad Friday for the Punjabi entertainment industry. Pyarelal, the youngest of the Wadali Brothers passed away in the early hours of the day after a brief illness. He was 75 years old and was reported to have experienced a heart attack which is the cause of death. Breaking the news was his nephew Lakhwinder Wadali on his official Instagram page.
With the saying that nothing good comes easy, the Wadali brothers when they began their career as Sufi singers were initially rejected. However, without giving up all hope, they began to offer a singing offering at The Harballach Temple in Jalandhar where an executive of All India Radio heard them and recorded their song.
Coming from Guru Ki Wadali in Amritsar District, the duo brothers are well acclaimed for their performances. They are individuals who believed deeply in the Sufi tradition. They chose to devote themselves and preach about great saints through their music. As a result, they never went commercial. Till date, the Wadali Brothers have got only a handful of recordings gotten from their live performances. The two brothers also train the many who are interested in Sufi music with the desire to preserve it.

Although Pyarelal was a Sufi singer, all he learned was from his elder brother, Puranchand who was demanded by their father to learn music. The Wadali brothers are skilled in various genres of music which includes, Kaafian, ghazal, and bhajan.
