MANTO TRAILER: NAWAZUDDIN SIDDIQUI CHALLENGES THE HARD TRUTH

Fans were treated to a literary delight as the trailer for highly anticipated Bollywood film ‘Manto’ was released on Tuesday. The movie which is written and directed by Nandita Das is based on the life of Pakistani writer Saadat Hasan Manto.

The trailer follows Manto through his journey before and after partition and the hardships he faced, both financial and legal. As per the description by the makers, Manto is the tale of two emerging nations, two faltering cities, and one man who tries to make sense of it all. “Savaal ye hai ki jo cheez jaisi hai, use vaise hi pesh kyun nahi kiya jaata”, says the opening dialogue of the trailer. It shows Manto as an honest writer penning down the events happening around him, even though his writings may be uncomfortable for the society to read. https://youtu.be/QFbUei2DDhc The trailer has already been viewed over four million times. Earlier this year, the film was screened at Cannes Film Festival followed by Australia Film Festival. The first teaser of this movie was released on May 12, 2018. Speaking at the trailer launch of Manto along with Nawazuddin, Rasika Duggal and Tahir Raj Bhasin, Nandita said;

“Manto is not a message-driven film. The idea is to tell a story for the audience. We are not putting Manto on a pedestal. He was somebody who used to speak the truth despite all the challenges he faced. For youth, it is extremely inspirational to see someone like him. I think it’s a film where the audience will be able to take home something and everyone will relate to his personality,”

The film also features Bollywood veterans Javed Akhtar, Paresh Rawal and legendary Punjabi actor Gurdas Maan. It is slated for release on 21st September 2018. Are you all excited for the movie? Do let us know in the comments section below and for more content like this, keep visiting Gabruu.com
