So after waiting for long, the next suspense thriller Flick from Red Chillies entertainment has finally hit the screens this Friday. The film is marking the reunion of the ‘Pink’ actors Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan. Helmed by Sujoy Ghosh, this film is the remake of Spanish movie The Invisible Guest and we must say that it has worked really well.
Unlike most of the Bollywood movies, this one has no songs in its storyline and this is what makes your thriller movie watching experience even better as you don’t require one. Just like most of the suspense thrillers, this one also begins with the main accused Naina (played by Taapsee Pannu) who is sharing her story with Advocate Badal Gupta (played by Amitabh Bachchan). Their conversation has so many layers to it with some small comedy punches (which was not really needed).
There is no false note in Amitabh Bachchan's performance. As (sort of arrogant) lawyer Badal Gupta who hasn’t lost any case in his 40-year career. He is a natural, a completely diverse from his role of a lawyer in Pink (in case anyone was wondering). His personality is also brought out efficiently in the film. He hasn't looked this good in a movie in a while.
Taapsee Pannu delivers yet another natural performance. The way she switches between various emotions during her conversation with Big B is commendable. She’s a young businesswoman who carries her attitude and boldly puts her point.
The film also stars Amrita Singh in a pivotal role and we must say that her performance in the film truly stole the show (just ignore the introductory scene).
Malayalam actor Tony Luke, who makes his Bollywood debut with this film, is convincing in his role (if his slang is not a bigger problem) he has good screen presence and fits his character.
Overall, ‘Badla’ keeps you hooked with the screens and is a good choice to put your money on this weekend.
