NATIONAL FILM AWARDS 2018: NEWTON WINS BEST HINDI FILM

The 65th National Film Awards that have taken place today, brought for us some good news. While late Sridevi Kapoor has posthumously won Best actress award for MOM, Rajkumar Rao starrer Newton has won the best hindi film award and Vinod Khanna has posthumously won Dadasaheb Phalke award. The jury chairperson and famous filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, handed over its recommendations to the Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti irani, on Thursday. Imtiaz Hussain, lyricist Mehboob and actress Gautami Tadimalla were also a part of the jury. Newton directed by Amit Masurkar had also won Fimfare award for the best film and the critics award. Moreover, It was selected as India's official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category for Oscars 2018, but did not make it to the final shortlist. Although Rajkumar Rao’s role was powerful but the jury praised Pankaj Tripathi who had played the role of Central Reserve Police Officer. Shekhar Kapur said that Pankaj’s role was ignored by the press. The magic of lead actor wasn’t possible without the equally powerful role of the supporting actor. Well, the list doesn’t end here as Baahubali 2 gets award for the special effects and also the best action film. The chairperson Shekhar Kapur also mentioned that the standard of regional cinema is now far better than hindi films and hindi movies can’t compete with regional cinema. This year, more awards have been bagged by the Bengali and Telugu film industry. Follow Gabruu.com for more updates.
