Some nights, getting a good sleep feels like a big deal. No matter how much we try to make our bodies tired, but that sleepiness just does not come. In the developing world, nearly 150 million people have insomnia and other very serious sleep disorders. It often results in mood swings and anxiety. First, let’s get to know what insomnia is and why it happens.

Insomnia means sleeplessness. People aged between 15 and 35 generally have this condition. When you feel sleeplessness for a few days or weeks, it is called acute insomnia. It is also called short-term insomnia. But when the period extends to a month or more, it is called chronic insomnia, which is long-term. There can be many reasons why you might feel insomniac like mental stress, anxiety problem or depression. If you are taking medications for asthma, cold or allergies, they might trigger insomnia. Also, any breathing ailments, chronic pain and neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s can also be the reasons. Consuming excessive tobacco, alcohol, caffeine and other related substances can also lead to insomnia. So if you feel insomniac, here are some simple foods that can help your sleeplessness without any sleeping pills.

1. Kiwi

Make sure to eat them 1 hour before going to bed. It will surely give you relief within a few weeks. 2. Banana

3. Honey

This sweet elixir can also help you get a good sleep. Take 1-2 tablespoons of honey every night before going to bed. If you feel drained in the morning, try adding a pinch of Himalayan salt to honey. It will help you wake up feeling fresh and energetic in the morning. 5. Garlic

This little unnoticed vegetable has much more health benefits that we can think of. Garlic can help in lowering cholesterol, cardiovascular problems, weight loss and what not. It has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties that keep body fluids and organs healthy. It also helps in preventing infections and helps in the healthy functioning of heart and brain. Sleeping pills should be consumed only after the prescription from a medical practitioner. You should never take more than the prescribed dosage since it can lead to many other severe health problems.
