Offering multi-entry tourist VISA for 5 years, UAE becomes the next major global tourism hub

Earlier the visas were valid only for a period of up to 90 days but now the Gulf nations are eager to encourage tourism by offering 5-year tourist visa

The Prime Minister of UAE, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Monday, January 6, 2020, announced that the Tourist visas will be valid for a period of five years which were earlier valid only for a period of 30 to 90 days at the max.

He shared this on twitter and said that this is a part of the campaign to lure the holidaymakers and people on vacation visiting Gulf nations.

He further added that the visa will be valid for all nationalities and as UAE receives more than 21 million tourists annually and the visas will be introduced in the next four months and he is positive on establishing UAE as a "major global tourism destination"

This comes as a major contrast for both the nations as Saudi Arabia opened online visa applications in September 2019 however Qatar scrapped the visas for citizens of more than 80 countries in 2017.

The high tension prevailing with US-Iran conflict over the killing of Soleimani has cast a dark cloud over the Gulf countries and Tourism has affected. The US State Department also issued a warning to the Americans who are visiting or living in the UAE and said,
"The US Citizens are strongly encouraged to maintain a high level of vigilance and practice good situational awareness"

This notice came just after the Iranian allies have threatened retaliation for their commander's assassination.

Dubai is all ready to host the Expo 2020 in October 2020 and the government expects a huge footfall at the global trade fair. By offering the multi-entry visa scheme, they will make this  happen for sure.

“The year 2020 will be different because it is the year of preparation for the next 50, the year in which we design the future of the Emirates,"
- Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
