'Panipat' or 'Pati Patni Aur Woh': Which is your choice for the weekend?

This Friday saw two films releasing at the box office. One is a period drama, 'Panipat' while the other is a rom-com, 'Pati Patni Aur Woh'.

Talking about Panipat first, it's helmed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the film stars three main actors in the lead role, Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon. The masses had already seen Ranveer as a Maratha warrior in Bajirao so the comparisons were always going to be there. However, critics have praised the character he played in 'Panipat'.

Kriti Sanon has also shone through despite having a rather small role. She has been fierce with whatever she did in the movie including making her eyes talk or giving expressions which resonated with her character.

The veteran, Sanjay Dutt was outstanding as Ahmed Shah Abdali. He owned the character completely and never let the audience think that they were seeing something like Padmaavat’s Alauddin Khilji.

All in all, Gowariker’s Panipat was slow in pace which meant that people had to sit and wait for the story to finish. It also had poor CGI work and somehow could not work to impress the audience, otherwise, people take word of mouth more seriously these days.

Now let's put our focus on the second film, Pati Patni Aur Woh which again has three actors in the lead- Bhumi Pednekar, Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday. The remake of the same name is directed by Mudassar Aziz with a modernized twist to it.

This is a story of a middle-class man named, Chintu Tyagi who is married to his college sweetheart, Vedika Tripathy. All he craves in his life is more closure and intimacy. Things turn upside down when Chintu meets Tapasya Singh, a Delhi girl who needs Chintu’s help for opening a garment store.

Kartik Aaryan is adorable and is spot on with Chintu Tyagi and he has won hearts with his funny, sincere and pleasant onscreen presence. He has kept his promise and delivered more than what was expected of him.

Bhumi Pednekar is, as usual, a delight to watch and she now has the experience of delivering hits after hits. On top of that, Ananya Pandey couldn't have chosen a better movie than 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' as this has given her a chance to show her acting prowess with two stars who are well-equipped with multi-starers.

All-in-all, both the films are getting a good response till now but the weekend always plays its role and brings in the biggest twist. So, it'll be interesting to see which film impresses the audience at the box office.
