Twitteratis are always waiting for a chance to troll celebrities for their statements and this time the one who became a victim to the troll brigade is Parineeti Chopra as the actress gave them a big reason to do so.
The actress who is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Jabariya Jodi with her co-actor Sidharth Malhotra received a huge backlash from social media users for her comments on the pay discrepancy that exists in Bollywood.
According to the actress women actors make up for the gap in pay by bagging commercials. Yes, you heard it right. During an interview, the actress said;
“I always felt like i deserved more but i always got less. However, i feel that female actors do a lot of endorsement as compared to male actors and that we cover up for the difference.”
This statement by Parineeti Chopra has not gone well with the netizens who trolled the actress for failing to understand the concept of pay discrepancy or pay parity. Several users reacted to the video saying that the actress just showed how unaware people are about the concept of pay parity and why she shouldn't have given such a statement.
A user trolling Parineeti's statement wrote, "who cares about pay parity when you can do beauty and hair commercials." Here are some other reactions to Pari's statement. See Tweets;
Parineeti made the comments in an episode of Tapecast, where she was promoting her upcoming film, Jabariya Jodi, with co-star Sidharth Malhotra. She said,
“I always felt like I deserved a little bit more but I only got this much. But then we make it up with endorsements. Girls do a lot of endorsements so we kind of make it up. So that is why I never talk about it ( pay discrepancy ) because the boys don’t do as many endorsements as girls. I hope I’m right. We do so many beauty commercials and hair commercials like so many brands and I think we kind of cover it up.”
