Hailing from the holy city of Varanasi, she was born in a family of Maharashtrian Brahmins. Her real name was Manikarnika, which she later changed to Lakshmi Bai after getting married to Jhansi King Raja Gangadhar Rao Newalkar. The king passed away without a biological heir. So Lakshmi Bai adopted a six-year-old boy from the king’s extended family. Producer Kamal Jain stated that the team did not want Manikarnika to clash with other films. Doing so will heavily affect the film’s overall performance. The team is also working out to avoid a possibility of clash of the movie with Rajnikanth’s 2.0. Kamal said,
We have mounted the movie on a scale that's hard to imagine. We don't want to clash or release too close to a film that can eat into our business. While we want to release the film between August and September, we haven't zeroed in on a date yet.Kamal also took to Twitter to remember the heroic Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmi Bai on her death anniversary with the captions,

After that, she will be working with Ashwini Iyer Tiwary for her upcoming filmin which she will be playing the role of a kabaddi player in the flick.
