It's not only the Punjabi Singers and actors who made their marks in Bollywood, but the comedians who add some masala and tickle our funny bones with their jokes have also made a name for Punjabis. So, here are the stand-up comedians who made it big with their humour not only on the comedy shows but also in the movies.

1. Jaspal Bhatti

[caption id="attachment_4786" align="alignnone" width="640"] The King of Comedy Jaspal Bhatti[/caption] The King of Comedy Jaspal Bhatti was one of the famous stand-up comedians born in Amritsar who was popular for his sarcastic take on problems of a layman. He is well known for his work on TV series like Flop Show and Ulta Pulta, followed by various roles both in Pollywood as well as in the Bollywood movies like Fanaa, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, Kuch Naa Kaho and much more. Jaspal Bhatti lost his life in a car accident on October 12, 2012. He was also awarded India's third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan in 2015.

2. Kapil Sharma

[caption id="attachment_4792" align="alignnone" width="521"] Kapil Sharma[/caption] The host of famous comedy shows like Comedy Nights With Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show, Kapil Sharma hails from Amritsar. Before marking his place in Bollywood he worked in the Punjabi show on MH one titled Hasde Hasande Raho and went on with winning shows like The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and seventh season of Comedy Circus. He made his Bollywood debut with Kis KisKo Pyaar Karoon and is currently shooting for his second movie Firangi. 

3. Bharti Singh

[caption id="attachment_4791" align="alignnone" width="510"] Laughter Queen Bharti Singh[/caption] The laughter queen Bharti Singh also hails from Amritsar, she made her big debut in the comedy after winning the place of the second runner-up in the fourth season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. She also appeared in various series of Comedy Circus like Comedy Circus Ke Superstar and currently hosts the Comedy Nights Bachao with Krishna Abhishek. Bharati has even worked in Pollywood and Bollywood movies like Khiladi 786, Sanam Re, Jatt & Juliet and much more. She was awarded as the Best Actress at Indian Television Academy Award and People's Choice Awards India for Kahani Comedy Circus Ki in 2012.

4. Sudesh Lehri

[caption id="attachment_4797" align="alignnone" width="541"] Sudesh Lehri[/caption] The stand-up comedian and actor Sudesh Lehri was born in Jalandhar and later shifted to Amritsar with his family. Lehri was the second runner-up after Kapil Sharma and Chandan Prabhakar in the comedy reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and then won three seasons of Comedy Circus with Krishna Abhishek. He has also appeared in various Pollywood as well as in Bollywood movies like Welcome to Punjab, Panjaban and along with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in Ready and Jai ho.

5. Chandan Prabhakar

[caption id="attachment_4801" align="alignnone" width="499"] Chandan Prabhakar[/caption] The Indian stand-up comedian Chandan Prabhakar also hails from Amritsar, he made his big debut after being the first runner-up in the comedy reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Then, he went on to play the role of a servant in Comedy Nights with Kapil and is currently playing the role of a Tea-stall owner Chandu in The Kapil Sharma Show. He has also acted in movies like Power Cut, Disco Singh and much more. Making people laugh is the hardest thing in the world, but this what these Punjabis are best at.
