Saying that Kabir Khan’s ’83 is one of the most awaited and anticipated film of next year won’t be wrong. And this we are saying not just for a reason but many reasons altogether. The film is based on the life of renowned and legendary cricketer, Kapil Dev. The second reason is that Ranveer Singh is portraying the role of Kapil Dev in the film. The cast and the team of the film have already started preparing for the film in Dharamshala, and they are being trained by none other but the man himself, Kapil Dev.
But little did we know that the filmmakers had decided not Ranveer Singh but Randeep Hooda. Yes, you heard that right. Sources informed “Before Ranveer Singh, the role was offered to actor Randeep Hooda. This was when the film was to be directed by Sanjay Pooran Singh. This was formally announced and the look test was done too. But due to some circumstances, the project went into the hands of Kabir Khan and Ranveer bagged the role.” But guess Kapil Dev’s biopic was only meant for Ranveer Singh.
’83 is based on India’s major win in the World Cup for the first time after they defeated West Indies in the final match in 1983. And Kabir Khan will be narrating the entire journey which made the entire nation proud when India won the World Cup.
Other than Ranveer playing Kapil Dev, Saqib Saleem will portray the role of Mohinder Amarnath, the former Indian all-rounder. Sunil Gavaskar will be played by Tahir Raj Bhavin. The star cast of the film also includes R Badree, Harrdy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathy, Ammy Virk, and Saahil Khattar.
Talking about Randeep Hooda, he was last seen in Akshay Kumar starre Kesari. And now he will be seen in Imitiaz Ali’s next film, the sequel of Love Aaj Kal. The film also stars Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan and is scheduled to hit the screens on 14th February 2020.
