Anurag Kashyap was on a cloud nine when he shared the news of Emmy's 2019 nominations news with his fans. The director has two nominations in the upcoming International Emmy's 2019. Firstly, the web-series, Sacred Games, starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui (directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane) received an International Emmys 2019 nomination for the Best Drama. Secondly, Radhika Apte was nominated for the Best Actress category for her role in Lust Stories, which itself got nominated for the Best Television Movie/Mini-Series category.

While Anurag directed the parts in which Radhika featured in one of the four short films, the other three were helmed by Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee & Zoya Akhtar. As soon as the D-Day director shared the news on his handle, congratulatory wishes started pouring in. Karan Johar shared his love via a tweet and said, "So proud and excited that our anthology #luststories is nominated at the Emmy’s!!! Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer web series, Sacred Games became a cult hit as soon as it was released on Netflix India last year. The series follows the story of a crime lord, Ganesh Gaitonde (played by Nawazuddin) who seeks help from a cop named Sartaj Singh (played by Saif) who himself gets to know that he has mafia links which goes back to his past. The show also featured Radhika Apte, Kubra Sait, Surveen Chawla among others.
On the other hand, Lust Stories is a collection of four short films which takes on the modern-day love stories and its complications. It is an anthology which also marks a reunion of Bollywood directors Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap, who have helmed projects from drastically different genres.
The films feature Radhika Apte, Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Sanjay Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, Akash Thosar, Neha Dhupia and Bhumi Pednekar in important roles.
