Recently, the ace Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been making the headlines. From his Rs. 300 Crore Tiger Zinda Hai to his upcoming film Loveratri and his valentine 'date', the actor has been in the limelight. Well, Salman Khan is once again making the headlines but this time, the news has nothing to do with his career in acting. Besides his career as an actor, something dear to Salman is his NGO, 'Being Human Foundation'. Through the NGO, Salman has been able to give back to the society by providing education and healthcare services to the underprivileged citizens of India. However, the NGO is likely to get blacklisted by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). In December 2016, BMC had come up with a decision to start 12 Dialysis centers which would be equipped to perform 10,000 procedures each month in the city on public-private partnership (PPP) basis to look after the health sector. As per the reports, Being Human Foundation, as well as other selected NGOs, were expected to look after staff recruitment and maintenance of the centre provided by BMC. As a result, the superstar's foundation was expected to put in place 24 dialysis machines to which the foundation failed to do so. According, to Free Press Journal, a senior civic official was quoted, “Being Human, which was shortlisted for running the dialysis center at Bandra (West), had paid the bank guarantee and was granted all the necessary permissions to go ahead with the project. But with the project not taking off, we have issued them a show-cause notice warning that they would be blacklisted,” In response to the show cause notice warning, a representative from the foundation Loretta Lewis in an email statement said, "The Being Human Foundation has certain mandatory requirements which need to be included in contracts. There were discussions around those which ultimately did not materialize. There was no formal contract/MoU signed at all”. For all you know, Being Human Foundation is very dear to Salman Khan and will not let down its image. For more update, stay tuned to this space.
