After winning 3 South Filmfare awards, 2010 Telugu movie ‘Prasthaanam’ is going to get a remake in Hindi. it is directed by the original director, Deva Katta and stars Sanjay Dutt alongside Manisha Koirala, with Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur. It also has Manyatta Dutt and Satyajeet Dubey. Its shooting began on 1 June, which is also the birth anniversary of Sanjay Dutt’s mother and iconic actress, Nargis.
Sanjay Dutt also posted the first few pictures from the shoot showing Ali Fazal, Manisha Koirala and Manyatta Dutt from the set.
Originally, Prasthaanam starred Sharwanand, Saikumar and Sudeep Kishon in the lead roles. It is a story about a young man who has a strong political family. It shows how the protagonist exposes the connections between politicians and businessmen. Although the plot was highly appreciated by the audience, director Deva Katta has revealed that she will be making some changes to cater to the pan-India audience.
Each character in Prasthanam has a very strong role to play for which we needed actors with great calibre. When the team came up with the idea to cast Manisha Koirala to play the onscreen wife of Sanjay Dutt, it was a perfect match in my mind. I am looking forward to direct them both especially since they are coming back together after 10 years
Manisha Koirala has teamed up with Sanjay Dutt after 10 years. Recently, she had played the role of Dutt’s mother in his biopic ‘Sanju’. She also acted in the Netflix series ‘Lust Stories’. The last time Manisha and Sanjay starred together in a flick was in 2008 movie ‘Mehbooba’. Before this, they had acted together in Yadgaar, Kartoos, Baaghi and many more.
She has also expressed her excitement to share the screen with Sanjay Dutt.
I am super-thrilled that I got the opportunity to work with him again. It’s his home production and the remake of a South Indian film. Original film’s director is directing Hindi version of it as well. It’s a political action-packed family drama so, I am very excited and looking forward to work in that film
Victoria and Abdul actor Ali Fazal recently caught headlines when he went back to his school to shoot for a song and dance sequel for Prasthaanam. He was very overwhelmed to make a return to his school, this time not as a student but actor.
Going back to school was a flood of emotions. For anyone their school and any educational system will bring back millions of memories. And to now go there as a working individual and to shoot there for a film is almost unreal
“It was a great experience, the school hasn’t changed at all. I loved every bit of La Martiniere, the Royal structure, the teachers, the culture it represented”, Ali added.
Sanjay Dutt will be playing the role of Moki, who is a patriarch of a powerful politician’s family with Ali Fazal as his son. Veere Di Wedding actor Swara Bhaskar will play the role of Moki’s step daughter. It is going to be produced by Dutt after his last production in 2011 movie Rascals. Moreover, its motion poster has also been released by Munna Bhai Sanjay Dutt.
