Punjabi films are making a mark on global platforms. Not long ago, we had told you about Deep Sidhu-starrer Sadde Aale opening at Cannes 2018 and Jagjeet Sandhu's Mehsampur going to Sydney Film Festival.
As far as award functions are concerned, Punjabi cinema has a few of their own in India. But 2018 marked the beginning of first BritAsia Punjabi Film Awards in UK. Who's who of Pollywood attended the awards and that's when we realised that Punjabi films have got some real loyal fans in the royal country.
Seconding us in our thoughts is the pretty Punjabi actress Sargun Mehta. According to her statement to a leading news agency, the lady was quoted saying,
The Punjabi film industry is a growing industry, and we need people to watch, love and support our movies. This is the only way the industry will grow. And I'm happy that the UK is one of the biggest markets for the Punjabi film industry.
