Every year on Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesh Utsav and Ganesh Visarjan, people all across India join in the merriment and welcome home Lord Ganesha. While they host the deity for a different number of days, depending on their choice, the revelry and emotions while bidding him adieu remain constant for all.
But while the days of dance and fun are something every Mumbaikar looks forward to, it's the post-Visarjan days that they dread. And rightly so. The beaches all across the city become victims to the rituals and practices and every year, the cause is brought to the fore by some celebrities and organizations.
This time, it's Shahid Kapoor, who himself joined the citizens and helped them cleaning the beach. He supported the beach clean-up initiative and got surrounded by fans the moment he got out of his car.
If Shahid was there at Juhu beach, Randeep arrived at Versova beach to help individuals and Khalsa Aid volunteers clean up after the Ganpati Visarjan. He then shared photos and videos from the clean-up drive and captioned the series as, "“The world will change by your example not your opinion” applause for @afrozshah_ and #VersovaBeach volunteers for the inspiration and the opportunity to be able to help the #environment hands on and gratitude to the ever ready @khalsa_aid volunteers “Seva naal Meva."
This isn't the first time that a celebrity has joined hands with other people to make sure the cleanliness is maintained. In fact, Shahid's wife, Mira, too, has been vocal about the cause on her Instagram account. Just a few months back, she had taken to social media and raised concerns over the plastic remains that continue to dwell at the beach. She had then urged individuals and organisations to lend support for the cause.
