Making biopics on sportsmen and sportswomen have become the new thing in the B-town. Be it Mary Kom, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Dangal or Soorma. But that isn’t the only new trend in the tinsel town. In fact, the other new trend is actors turning producers for their films.
Last year, we had heard that Deepika Padukone is turning producer with her project titled Chhapaak. The film is a biopic, based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Priyanka Chopra has produced several regional language films like Sarvann, Ventilator, Pahuna-The Little Visitors, etc. under her Purple Pebble Pictures banner.
Now, reports suggest that Shahid Kapoor could be the latest to join the bandwagon of young producers. The actor will be marking his production debut with his upcoming movie project, Dingko Singh biopic.
The actor is reportedly going to co-produce the film with his director Raja Krishna Menon. A source close to the project revealed that the actor-director duo has joined hands to co-produce the film based on the life of a sportsperson.
“They have joined hands to produce the film. It will be shot primarily in Manipur, besides Delhi, while an international schedule is also being planned”
– The source told.
Meanwhile, the report also revealed that Shahid has been prepping for the role for over a year now. The actor is learning, and studying every aspect, the body language and nuances of the 1998 Asian Games Gold medalist boxer.
Apart from the Dingko Singh biopic, Shahid Kapoor has another film in the making. The actor will appear in Kabir Singh which is a remake of Arjun Reddy, the blockbuster Telugu film. Kiara Advani, who had last appeared in the Netflix originals Lust Stories, is playing the lead opposite Shahid.
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Padmaavat as Rawal Ratan Singh opposite Deepika Padukone, playing the titular role. The film also starred Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji.
