When Hichki got released on 23 March, it was subjected to a lot of criticism and could not perform well at the box office. But now it has been announced that the Rani Mukherji starrer will be screened in the Belt and Road Week of Shanghai Film Festival. He said, “I am absolutely looking forward to presenting 'Hichki' at The Belt and Road Film Week at Shanghai International Film Festival. It's a huge honour and a big opportunity and I am very grateful that they have included our film". Hitchki shows the struggle of Naina Mathur (Rani Mukherji) who is suffering from Tourette Syndrome. This incurable nervous disorder leads to involuntary repetitive movements and sounds. This is why Naina faces a lot of discrimination from the society. She is told that she could never become a teacher. But with her optimism and determined will, she ends up being a brilliant teacher. Hichki is an adaption of a Hollywood movie, Front of the Class which was released in 2008. It received heavy appreciation and was rated 8.2 on IMDb. But originally, the story originated from an American motivational speaker, Brad Cohen who wrote his autobiography, ‘Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had.'
