When Hichki got released on 23 March, it was subjected to a lot of criticism and could not perform well at the box office. But now it has been announced that the Rani Mukherji starrer will be screened in the Belt and Road Week of Shanghai Film Festival. The announcement was made official by a tweet posted by Taran Adarsh. https://twitter.com/taran_adarsh/status/1003910746843955201 Director, Siddharth Malhotra has shown his gratitude for the grand opportunity. He said, “I am absolutely looking forward to presenting 'Hichki' at The Belt and Road Film Week at Shanghai International Film Festival. It's a huge honour and a big opportunity and I am very grateful that they have included our film". Hitchki shows the struggle of Naina Mathur (Rani Mukherji) who is suffering from Tourette Syndrome. This incurable nervous disorder leads to involuntary repetitive movements and sounds. This is why Naina faces a lot of discrimination from the society. She is told that she could never become a teacher. But with her optimism and determined will, she ends up being a brilliant teacher. Hichki is an adaption of a Hollywood movie, Front of the Class which was released in 2008. It received heavy appreciation and was rated 8.2 on IMDb. But originally, the story originated from an American motivational speaker, Brad Cohen who wrote his autobiography, ‘Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had.' I am also thrilled and touched at the love and applause 'Hichki' has brought us. Rani and the kids take most of the credit for its victory on-screen, and I think 'Hichki' will take her to a whole new global audience.
Hichki will be screened as a part of The Belt and Road week at the Shanghai Film Festival and later Siddharth Malhotra will have an interaction with the audience. For the latest Pollywood and Bollywood news, keep reading on Gabruu.com!
